Elaphe obsoleta lindheimeri

I was outside in the front yard Friday night and noticed a stick moving in the road. Because, you know, those damned moving sticks are incredibly noticeable.

This quite large Texas Rat Snake was captured and relocated to a more snake friendly environment. No, he was not dispatched into the afterlife by shovel or rifle. Any other hillbilly around these parts would have lopped his head off without thinking twice about it. I gave him a pass since they have incredible appetites for mice and rats. I don't mind the free pest control at all.
