A Green Beret’s Guide to EMP: Practical Steps to Prepare for a “Lights Out” Scenario (Part 1)

Jeremiah Johnson is a retired Green Beret of the United States Army Special Forces (Airborne) and a graduate of the U.S. Army’s SERE school (Survival Evasion Resistance Escape).

This series is dedicated to Ben Raines, one of SHTF’s readers, who wrote:
“If the power is out for more than 2 weeks I will have some serious decisions to make.”
Ben, I’m doing this article for you as I promised, and I hope it will help you (and others) to make those decisions in the critical moments and days following an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) event.  Although I had plenty of science courses in college, I am not a scientist.  Certainly someone with a scientific background will comment on this article.  Let me state this:  Scientists, I welcome all comments, positive or negative, but please make them proactive.  These articles are forums where the writers are “emcees” that introduce topics for discussion and present some salient points.  You guys and gals are the ones who pick up the topics and run the football in for the TD.

Tap, Rack, Bang

I took a little stroll through the mosquito orgy on Sunday afternoon to see if I could stalk a few piggies and maybe bring some home to throw in the deep freeze. Oh the joys of living in the gumbo mud. After a few miles of muddin' on the ankle express and sweating a few pounds off and not seeing a damned thing, we thought we would pop off a few just for shits and giggles. The new rifle is running great too. I had one malfunction due to the round not being seated properly against the spine of the curved x39 mag. Click... Immediate action rights the ship most of the time. The dog is cool too. She just doesn't like the loud part.

I hope everyone had a nice day of reflection yesterday for Memorial Day. I know I did.

Memorial Day Weekend 2015

I politely ask that you take a moment to remember our fallen Brothers and Sisters who have given the ultimate sacrifices as contribution to our freedom and continued way of life. Do not thank me for my service, as it is not my day

I want to pose a special thank you to those Vets who took their final trip across the river to Valhalla instead of back home alive to American shores. You gave it all so others would not have to. Until we meet again my Brothers and Sisters, here is my salute to you all.

May you all rest in peace and may the War Gods bless you in your eternal slumber. Semper Fidelis.

Deadliest motorcycle “gang” in Waco shoot-out was not Bandidos, Cossacks, Scimitars, or Vaqueros. It was police.

Was the Waco Shoot-out a gunfight between rival gangs or an ambush laid by law enforcement? Police are monopolizing the testimony but the evidence suggests a barroom brawl became a pretext to kill or arrest club officers, essentially grassroots organizers, now charged with “organized crime”. Investigators can litter the crime scene with brass-knuckles, knives and wallet chains, but the shell casings are going to be police issue. Motorcycle headlights were on, indicating club members were trying to leave. Police claim that the brawlers redirected their fire toward officers, but did that happen while the bikers were trying to ride off? Because riding requires both hands. This gangland “shoot-out” was a St Valentine’s Day Massacre executed by cops.

Definitely an interesting point of view to the official narrative...

A word to the wise for all of the Sons of Anarchy fan boys: Don't start popping off here about shit you think you know from watching fictional TV. There are a few club members that read here too.

Seattle VA hospital strands veteran outside ER

When Donald Siefken drove up to the Seattle VA hospital emergency room earlier this year with a broken foot, all he asked for was a little help getting inside.

Instead, a hospital employee who answered Siefken’s cellphone call told him to call 911 himself, then hung up on him, Siefken said.

Frustrated to tears, the 64-year-old retired truck driver and Army vet from Kennewick placed the emergency call while parked just feet away from the ER entrance.

“They won’t come out and get me, do you believe that?” Siefken asked an emergency dispatcher, his voice wavering. “They told me to call 911 and hung up on me.”

If he would have told them that he was a gun owner in the VA parking lot and was feeling a little blue, they would have called the local LEO to go check him out and more than likely escalate the situation. EMS would be dispatched as well, but only after LEO were contacted first. Think about that for a second... Who the fuck is writing these protocols?

Are You On the Jade Helm Red List and Will You Know When It’s Time to Run?

This is a two part series which deals with critical issues associated with planned round-ups of potential resistance leaders and how to recognize when the extractions will happen. This is very valuable information as it will be important to not be where one is expected to be when the extractions commence.

The second part of this series will discuss the technology that will be employed to hunt down key resistance figures along with counter-intelligence techniques designed evade capture.

There are some universal principles that will be applied when key people are hunted down when the NSA/DHS decides that your Threat Matrix Score is too high and you must be extracted from society so that you cannot do any more damage to the emerging power structure that has hijacked our government.

Dirty hands, sore muscles, and new creations

Over the last several weeks I've been acquiring desired items by trading things I needed to get rid of and building in the backyard. As full on Summer time approaches quickly it's better to do this type of stuff before it gets god awful hot at 100 degrees with 90% humidity in the gumbo swamp mud of South East Texas.

I've had good luck in the sound department lately. You guys know I'm a vinyl freak and I've come across an old Magnavox console that still works and needs a little love to revive it back to its former glory. The little smoking hot barefoot gardening squaw will work her refinishing skills and make her sparkle. She's jam up when it comes to breathing life back into old things. It's one of the many gifts that she has in her arsenal.

I also managed to acquire a maybe used 3 times Outdoor Gourmet gas/charcoal/smoke cooker from a my neighbor for $40. These retail around $280 at Academy. He's been an excellent neighbor and I really hate to see him go, but he had no room for it to make the move with him. It's good to have friends like that. He also told me to haul off a good amount of pavers from his backyard that he parked his boat and cargo trailer on as well. I'd say I made out good on that deal. I've always had a minimalist attitude when it came to outdoor entertainment just getting by with a smoker, good music, lawn chairs, cold beer, and a shady spot. The game has changed and we decided to upgrade a bit to allow us to enjoy The Backyard a bit more for years to come.

I know, it looked like a minimalist attitude was in charge here previously. Low budget but functional, and not as awesome as it could be. We decided it was time to upgrade and get our feet out of the mud. I've had a rather large assortment of red and white paver bricks stashed up as well for just an occasion like this.

The squaw and I got to work and spent about 7 hours laying in the bricks and pavers. She's the strongest support beam I've got and she doesn't bend for shit. She's not a bad brick layer either. I have found a new line of respect for Masons and concrete workers. Bricks are brutal objects that make you feel every muscle in your body. The sweat pouring out of us was well earned and worth it.

We still need to pour sand in the cracks to settle every thing and put the form boards back on to tighten up the bricks before we seal it. That will come this weekend.

It's the little things in life sometimes... I know it's not massive and extravagant, but it's mine, I love it, and so does the little smoking hot barefoot gardening squaw.

I recently finished another rifle that I'd been working on as well. It's always something being built or worked on around our spot. It never stops, just like our minds that race along daily onto other things that we can get our hands on to play with or fix up. You might ask yourself why in the world would anyone spend money to build an AR that shoots 7.62x39 when you can just buy an AK or an SKS that does the same thing. Well, this one is mine and the squaw runs the .223/5.56. I like my SKS, don't get me wrong, it does a fine job. But, I can't attach all of the do-dads I like to run on my AR rigs the same as an SKS. I night hunt Hogs and Yotes from time to time and the Tapco stock my SKS sits in doesn't have a place to pic-rail a green night light. And we all know that a scope on an SKS is just plain silly. It wasn't made for that application, but a flat top AR is. I don't have as much in this build as you'd expect me to either. I've found reputable made parts for decent prices over the years, stashed them up, and finally put it together for cheaper than it'd cost me to buy a basic milled AK for $800. Here's how she came out. She's nothing to mess around with when it comes to impaling pork in the gumbo mud either. She's a certified pig flipper. Spartan Helm FTW.

My next build will be in the .277 Wolverine package. SPR's are fun builds. The .277 Wolverine is fairly new, but it is taking off in hunter circles as the latest and greatest deer round from the AR platform.

Keep yourselves busy and never stop creating and building things! Idle hands will get you in trouble. Make the most of your short time here on this spinning marble of madness.

Local veteran is taking the fight to ISIS

The threat of ISIS has grown exponentially over the past year and one local veteran and his organization, Veterans Against ISIS are taking the fight to them, in order to protect his country and fellow Christians in the Middle East.

This veteran goes by the alias of “Knock” because he does not want any retaliation or harm to come towards his family. The former Army Ranger is not departing for Iraq until next month, but he has already packed his bags and says he is ready to make a difference.

“We heard about ISIS fighters coming into a Christian community,” Knock said. “They fled for their lives up a mountain and ISIS would not let them come down. Some starved and were forced to give up on their children and make other hard choices.”

Federal Courts Green Light Police Access to Cellphone Tower Records without a Warrant

A federal appeals court has ruled that law enforcement agencies may access tracking information on cell phones without a warrant.

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled (pdf) Tuesday that police were justified in asking a mobile phone provider to hand over the records of Quartavious Davis, who was convicted of committing seven armed robberies in South Florida in 2010. As part of the evidence used against Davis, prosecutors presented data showing that Davis’ phone was using cell towers near sites of robberies.

In a 9-2 vote, the court said that mobile phone users should have no expectation of privacy. “Cell users know that they must transmit signals to cell towers within range, that the cell tower functions as the equipment that connects the calls, that users when making or receiving calls are necessarily conveying or exposing to their service provider their general location within that cell tower’s range, and that cell phone companies make records of cell-tower usage,” Judge Frank Hull wrote. The ruling closely followed the reasoning in a 2013 decision from the Fifth Circuit.

"Mobile phone users should have no expectation of privacy."

So should people who have no issue ruling your privacy away have any expectation of privacy as well?

"Could" open the door to Facebook posts, online purchase information and data in “cloud” storage without a warrant...

I think that bird has already squawked, shit, and flown off a long time ago... They know who is buying what and how much. They know who is talking to who and for how long, when, and where. They know your personal and most private secrets that you chat about to your closest friends and family.

Congratulations! You've made a list somewhere. If you are not on a list somewhere, then you're out there getting your Freedom on completely wrong.

Ancestry.com Caught Sharing Customer DNA Data With Police With No Warrant

Idaho Falls, Idaho – Would you find it frightening— perhaps even downright Orwellian — to know that a DNA swab that you sent to a company for recreational purposes would surface years later in the hands of police? What if it caused your child to end up in a police interrogation room as the primary suspect in a murder investigation?

In an extremely troubling case out of Idaho Falls, that’s exactly what happened.

Police investigating the 1996 murder of Angie Dodge targeted the wrong man as the suspect, after looking to Ancestry.com owned Sorensen Database labs for help. The labs look for familial matches between the murderers DNA and DNA submitted for genealogical testing after failing to find a match using traditional methods.

How to control popular opinions and quell dissenters by Mark Zuckerberg

So this happened yesterday as I was posting to The Bearded Backyarder facebook page. After a little investigating and talking with a few allies I have it figured out. It seems they'll unlock your page to allow you to post if you pay to promote it via the add subcription service that runs in $5 to $20 increments to generate hits on your articles and posts. Like those cats need any more money. Hell, the CIA and NSA has propped him and his fucking mass surveillance circle jerk and data mining operation up pretty good I'd say. I was not the only one having linkage problems. Pretty much anyone who is not the 3 letter news services is getting hit if they don't already pay to play. Did you know that the US Black Budget for the 3 letter folks is about 80 Billion a year? Think "non-official cover" and you're on the right track.

Please let us know? Oh, I did. I doubt I'll get a response, I tend to be highly truthful in my thought portraying from time to time.

Zuckerberg, FUCK YOU and your algorithms.

Thanks, I'll just be over here waiting for my poison micro-dart to the neck.

Have a great Friday yoo hoos.
