Marines testing Google's robotic Dog

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - 

The U.S. Marine Corps has enlisted the help of a four-legged devil-dog of sorts.

A robotic mule known as the Legged Squad Support System, or LS3, is taking part in military exercises in Hawaii.

LS3 is designed to carry 400 pounds and travel 20 miles without refueling. The robot is operated by a Marine with a sensor strapped to his or her foot.

It appears that it has sparked enough interest for it to go to field trials finally. Great... Suspect accidentally shoots accomplice during break-in at Harris County home

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A home invasion suspect accidentally shot another suspect during a scuffle with a Harris County homeowner, deputy constables said Monday.

Pct. 4 Captain Stewart said it happened at a home in the 2400 block of Green Knoll.

Four-Time Deportee Arrested For Allegedly Molesting Young Girl In Texas

PARKER COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – Authorities in Parker County have arrested a man suspected of molesting a 9-year-old girl as she slept in her home. The man, 35-year-old Israel Andrade, has been deported from the United States on four different occasions.

Parker County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call on Saturday, after a woman called to report her daughter had been sexually fondled by a stranger who broke into her home.

Māori Warriors Haka

This one has been floating around since last year. Every time I see it, the static tingle comes back and my nerves let me know I'm still alive through my lacrimal ducts. The sheer flow of emotion coming out of these warriors tells me their fallen are loved and highly respected. Incredibly powerful...

These are the soldiers of 2/1 Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment. The comrades they lost to an IED strike were Corporal Luke Tamatea, 31, Private Richard Harris, 21, and Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker, 26. Jacinda was the first New Zealand female soldier killed in Afghanistan. This video shows the soldiers  performing their Unit haka, powerfully acknowledging the lives and feats of their fallen comrades as they come onto the Unit's parade ground. It is also an emotive farewell for they will leave via the waharoa (the carved entrance way) for the very last time.

Haka is used throughout New Zealand by many, not only Māori, to demonstrate their collective thoughts. There is a haka for each of the Services, as well as the Defence Force. Units with the NZ Army have their own haka. "Haka --sometimes termed a posture dance could also be described as a chant with actions. There are various forms of haka; some with weapons some without, some have set actions others may be 'free style.' Haka is used by Māori (indigenous people of New Zealand) for a myriad of reasons; to challenge or express defiance or contempt, to demonstrate approval or appreciation, to encourage or to discourage, to acknowledge feats and achievements, to welcome, to farewell, as an expression of pride, happiness or sorrow. There is almost no inappropriate occasion for haka; it is an outward display of inner thoughts and emotions. Within the context of an occasion, it is abundantly clear which emotion is being expressed."

Marine Corps tests massive new amphibious assault vehicle dubbed the UHAC

Now, I don't know about you guys, but this looks like it'd be a sitting duck. I'll take the LCAC any day of the week compared to this thing. Yeah, the UHAC is offering almost three times the payload, topping out at 190 tons. In addition to greater hauling capacity, the UHAC will also increase launch range to some 200 nautical miles, and will be able to carry three main battle tanks ashore, each weighing some 60 tons. It also reduces speed from what the LCAC can offer of 40 knots down to 20 knots. I've done a few amphibious landings from the LCAC into 10 ft of water before, and I can tell you, you start wondering if your truck will make it as the water pours over and into the cab. The fording kits make you realize quickly just how bad ass diesel engines are when water cannot get in them. Being dropped off at the 2nd sand bar, in the dead of night at high tide, is an entirely different monster in itself though. Here's an LCAC fully loaded with whoop ass if you've never seen one.
