Friday afternoon mood music

After a hellish work week like this and it also being month end, I've got confirmation on inbound throat chops for the next water headed dumb ass I encounter today. Some days it's chickens, some days it's feathers...

Caught Smokin' shows us how to build a nice pit

How to Build a BBQ Pit

When I decided to start my adventure in barbecue, and wanted to roast a pig, I needed a cooking surface large enough to do so.  So I decided to build my own cinder block barbecue pit. I scoured the Internet looking for the perfect solution, but didn't find what I was looking for. Therefore, I came up with my own design that incorporated the overall concepts of a proper barbecue pit, and added some of my own finishing touches, I would like to share with you, and how to build it.

PLANNING

First, sit down and decide how large you actually needed your pit to be. I was roasting a pig and needed something a little larger. After some further research it was decided a surface of at least 3.5' x 5' would be needed to roast a whole pig. Although, I wanted a little more room around the pig for smoke circulation, and didn't want to feel crowded while tending to the pig, so I decided to make it a little larger. I, then, sketched out my idea to try to get a visual idea of how I wanted it to look and also to plan for a materials list. My final barbecue pit size ended up being about 5' x 8' outside dimensions with a cooking surface that is about 4' x 6'-8".

Y'all know I'm a sucker for anything to do with meat smoking bad-assery. Just like my 4 yard dogs, I'm pretty sure I could lay in the dirt beside the pit and lick the grease drip and never be satisfied...

Any of y'all got plans to enjoy a cold drink and watch the smoke roll off this weekend?

Hackers Can Disable a Sniper Rifle—Or Change Its Target

Put a computer on a sniper rifle, and it can turn the most amateur shooter into a world-class marksman. But add a wireless connection to that computer-aided weapon, and you may find that your smart gun suddenly seems to have a mind of its own—and a very different idea of the target.

At the Black Hat hacker conference in two weeks, security researchers Runa Sandvik and Michael Auger plan to present the results of a year of work hacking a pair of $13,000 TrackingPoint self-aiming rifles. The married hacker couple have developed a set of techniques that could allow an attacker to compromise the rifle via its Wi-Fi connection and exploit vulnerabilities in its software. Their tricks can change variables in the scope’s calculations that make the rifle inexplicably miss its target, permanently disable the scope’s computer, or even prevent the gun from firing. In a demonstration for WIRED (shown in the video above), the researchers were able to dial in their changes to the scope’s targeting system so precisely that they could cause a bullet to hit a bullseye of the hacker’s choosing rather than the one chosen by the shooter.

I support this computer aided rifle for people with disabilities that limit them from being able to fire a normal weapon due to their disability. Leave it to a bunch of non-gunners to exploit a weapon system that could benefit a large group of disabled hunters, boy I tell you what...

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi - Official Trailer

Funny, I didn't see any mention of smuggling weapons through Libya into Turkey, then onto John McCain's "Moderate Rebel" Al-Qaeda / ISIS / FSA butt buddies to help fight by proxy Assad in Syria that caused the death of 4 Americans, in which Hillary, Barry, Susan Rice, and Jay Carney are the responsible parties that tried to blame a youtube video for the attack. Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods unavailable for comment...

Remains of 36 Unidentified Marines From WWII Battle Return

The military and a private organization have brought home the remains of 36 Marines killed in one of World War II's bloodiest battles.

A group called History Flight recovered the remains from the remote Pacific atoll of Tarawa, the U.S. Marine Corps said. A ceremony was held Sunday in Pearl Harbor to mark their return.

History Flight has started identifying the remains, and the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency will complete the effort, the Marines said. The Marines plan to return the remains to their families after they've been identified.

More than 990 U.S. Marines and 30 sailors died during the three-day Battle of Tarawa in 1943. Japanese machine gun fire killed scores of Marines when their boats got stuck on the reef at low tide during the U.S. amphibious assault. Americans who made it to the beach faced brutal hand-to-hand combat.

UN Calls For RFID Chips And Biometric Tracking Of Guns And Ammo

()  At a recent meeting of government representatives of nations participating in the United Nations’ Programme of Action (POA), the focus was on tracking of civilian weapons, component parts, and ammunition, and how the United States should spend more money helping foreign countries accomplish those goals.

At the Second Meeting of Governmental Experts (MGE2) held at the UN headquarters in Manhattan, the globalists discussed a couple of agenda items that should give pause to Americans.

First, the delegates at the MGE2 deliberated on how to eliminate the threat of technologically advanced weapons, including so-called polymer firearms and 3D printed guns, as well as the tracking of materials used in the “craft-production of small arms and light weapons.”

Not surprisingly, the representative from China called for increased UN-mandated regulations on 3D printers and the weapons they produce.

Army To Recruiters: Treat Armed Citizens as Security Threat

WASHINGTON -- The Army has warned its recruiters to treat the gun-toting civilians gathering at centers across the country in the wake of the Chattanooga, Tenn., shooting as a security threat.

Soldiers should avoid anyone standing outside the recruiting centers attempting to offer protection and report them to local law enforcement and the command if they feel threatened, according to a U.S. Army Recruiting Command policy letter issued Monday.

*********************************************************************************************************************

Starting to see a pattern here? Anytime armed citizens step up and handle business how it is supposed to be handled, this limp wristed sissy leadership gets asshole sore and tries to flip the script on these patriotic Americans by calling them a threat. Once again, what they fail to realize is that our oaths never expire and that we will remain vigilant to protect our brothers and sisters left defensively neutered by politicians who have armed security around them 24/7. If more attacks happen, the blood will still be on their hands for their unwillingness to compromise in letting these service members be armed to defend themselves and their coworkers.

When your forward assist game is a bit heavy

Never had this happen before. I tapped the forward assist and it pushed the bullet back down into the case. This happened twice with rounds from the same box.

This would be the round below. I know better than to try and fire it due to the possibility of pressure increase from it being seated further back in the case... Kaboom = Bad

Thoughts? I think this could be why the Cartels love Lake City and Federal over their own home grown Aguila brands.

US officials target social media, encryption after Chattanooga shooting

Did "IS" propaganda inspire the Chattanooga shooter? There's no evidence to back the claim, but some officials are already calling for access to encrypted messages and social media monitoring. Spencer Kimball reports.

It's not an unusual story in America: A man in his 20s with an unstable family life, mental health issues and access to firearms goes on a shooting spree, shattering the peace of middle class life.

This time, the shooter's name was Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, a Kuwaiti-born naturalized US citizen, the son of Jordanian parents of Palestinian descent. And he targeted the military.

Abdulazeez opened fire on a recruiting center and naval reserve facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee last Thursday. Four marines and a sailor, all unarmed, died in the attack.

But the picture that's emerged from Chattanooga over the past several days is complicated, raising questions about mental health, substance abuse, firearms, religion and modernity.

Yet elected officials have been quick to suggest that events in Chattanooga were directly inspired by "Islamic State" (also known as ISIL or ISIS) Internet propaganda, though there's still no concrete evidence to back up that claim.

LONG-RANGE GAME CHANGER? The Ruger Precision Rifle

Just down the highway from me in New Hill, NC, hidden in the woods down a dusty dirt road winding through the pines, is Woody’s Hunting and Rifle Club. Woody’s is private club dedicated to long range field shooting and hunting, and hosts numerous precision rifle competitions every year.

I watched some of the best precision rifle shooters in the world compete there last year during a designated marksman’s match.

I’d love to be able to participate in that kind of shooting competition, but the barrier cost-to-entry is prohibitively high for me, as it is for most others. The starting price for many of the bolt-action rifles used in this kind of shooting starts around $4,000 for an Accuracy International, and can quickly climb to $10,500 for a Sako TRG M10.

The newly announced Ruger Precision Rifle (RCR) looks to change the equation.

ATF Works With FBI And VA To Get Veterans’ Guns Taken Away

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is involved in a government effort to disarm America’s veterans and seniors who may lack the capacity to manage their finances.

And it’s not just veterans facing this scrutiny: now it’s anybody who gets Social Security.

New documents obtained by The Daily Caller reveal that ATF, a division of the Department of Justice, is working with the FBI and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to enter veterans who get VA benefits into the government’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

Like we don't already know this! They use backdoor maneuvers and made up bullshit to fulfill their master's wishes. They'll never take what they cannot find. We've got way more important shit to take care of instead worrying about armed vets. Oh wait, that makes the power brokers nervous doesn't it?

How about this? How about illegals start paying taxes and they ban the Koran because it promotes terrorism. I mean, if we are going to make this a PC world where nobody's feelings get hurt, let's not stop with the removal of an inanimate and harmless flag and those "racist" Confederate monuments and historical markers. Let's play the game! They ain't gonna like it...

Turning on that night light

TC Contender Super 14 in 30-30

So to recap yesterday's shooting adventure with the one who does not gun... Man, what an afternoon. I have not had my patience tested like that in a while. Of course, we went over the safety rules, and what does what with the firearm he would be shooting. He was a fish out of water. My main goal was to get him relaxed and comfortable. It took me about 30 minutes of adjusting, stopping, repositioning, explaining sight alignment / sight picture, and getting his breathing under control just to get him hitting paper at 10 feet. It was a little frustrating to say the least. After about 50 rounds of him sending down range everywhere but where he was "aiming", myself and another friend got him in the zone. I mentioned to him he could always use the pistol as a club or throw it and see if he could hit the target with it. Humor is sometimes a good injection to get folks to relax a little and enjoy things. He still needs to work. Like I said, this guy is new to gun culture and I think we got the hooks set in him pretty deep.

Care to guess which target I was on? The one on the right is where we finished with his last pistol shoot. Mother of God, that was a huge improvement from him not even hitting paper and digging the dirt out all around it.

Two folks I was shooting with got their cherries popped with an AR and also an SKS yesterday. We are making great strides.

He also got a hold of the TC Contender as well and I think he almost blew a wad in his tighty whiteys from that one. That pistol has some serious knock to it if you've ever fired one, especially in .30 caliber. It is always awesome to see the endorphin rush hit a new shooter and see them experience a new high that they've never felt before. So yeah, we brought another one over to the dark side and he's already hit me up this morning to go back once he returns from his trip. Score another one for the good guys. You lead heads have a great Friday.

Taking a friend shooting this afternoon

I love these opportunities. For one, it gives me a chance to pass along the education and skills that are required with handling and using firearms. Secondly, it's my neighbor of all people. I never thought he'd ask me to go with him in a million years. He's just not a gun guy. He goes deer hunting, but that's once a year and he uses a borrowed .243 that is only shot during deer season. When he asked me to go with him last night, I had to contain my excitement when I answered him back. He's taking his dad's Taurus .40 with him on a trip to Colorado beginning tomorrow and has never shot it one time. He doesn't know shit about it. The last time we all went to CO, I was the one who was in charge of our security. He's on his own this time.

As you may remember, I posted about going to Colorado next week a while back. Well, things have been brought to light and discovered during an MRI of the Smoking Hot Little Barefoot Gardening Squaw's back since then. She's got 3 bulged discs with 2 of them almost at the point of rupture. Es no bueno por caca. We aren't real sure how it even happened. She's in good shape and still young. The earliest neuro appointment we could get for her that's not in August, is July 16th. Yep, the week we were supposed to be in CO with my neighbor who's not much into gunning and his wife. I would be inconsiderately out of my mind to ask my wife to suck it up and go on that trip in her condition.

Am I still taking the entire week off next week? Hell yes! Anything I can do to get myself out of the salt mines for a week works for me. Let's call it a staycation y'all. I'll be in The Backyard doing what I normally do, which is building something, working on something, or smoking a piece of meat as I listen to my tunes in the shade while sipping on some of that ice cold Strawberry Blonde Wine. I'll also be taking care of the SHLBGS's needs too. She doesn't lift a finger if I'm around to help. That's what you do for people you love. You cut for each other and that's what keeps you together. She's been my ride or die woman going on 13 years now and we haven't killed each other with our dominant personalities yet. Can I get a hell yeah?

Obama Proposal Would BAN Internet Gun Discussions

You would be required to get the US State Department’s permission to post technical information about guns online under a new Obama administration proposed policy, the National Rifle Association is charging.

Much of the information about firearms currently allowed online would be banned under the revision of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, or ITAR. The ITAR is designed to keep US military technology out of the hands of potential enemies.

Any “technical data” related to firearms such as a YouTube video or a blog post would need State Department approval under the proposed change, a press release from the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) says.

"Designed to keep US Military technology out of the hands of potential enemies"... That's some of the funniest shit I've ever heard!

Ummm, did we not give massive loads of arms and training to ISIS/Al Qaeda? Did we not send Jabhat Al-Nusra a shit ton of TOW Missles? Did John McCain not help to arm "moderate" rebels in Syria? Did they not put on a massive cover up claiming it was a video that caused the attack in Benghazi that left 4 Americans dead as Hillary's US State Department was organizing the shipment of ex-Gaddafi arms stocks over to their proxy fighters through Turkey into Syria? Did we not send 200 M1A1 Abrams battle tanks and plenty of F-16 fighter jets to the short lived Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt?

Who the hell do they think they are talking to, Hellen Keller?

Don't piss on me and tell me it's raining. I know what's up. Sell that horse to someone else you lying shitbags, cause' we ain't buying it!

Now, have a little info on the M18 Claymore Mine.

US company gives glimpse into future of government surveillance

A SMALL private firm in the US has developed a surveillance system of Orwellian proportions that could very well be the future of big brother.

Thirty kilometers above a chosen city, a plane hangs out of sight of the thousands of people scurrying below — continuously circling the metropolis underneath. Every second, the plane takes a photo of the entire city and all the happenings within a 64sq km radius. The images are beamed down to a control center where they create what is akin to a real-time Google map of everything taking place.

When a crime occurs, teams of analysts simply scroll back in time to the scene of the incident and identify those involved. From that point, they can follow the target by clicking forward through the images to the present moment and pinpoint their location.

Magz Mod Day

Keep Shooting's $12.95 8 round 1911 mags.

These will be converted into Ruger P345 magazines via dremel tool and a cutoff wheel by cutting the mag catch slot a bit lower on the shoulder than the Colt 1911 mag. Problem solved. I've done this once before with some Chip Mccormick magz

Midway wants $32.99 each, CTD wants $25.85, and Ruger Shop wants $39.95 each.

Too much?

I've been looking for the PTO but I can't see it. That has to be a tractor body... Any other ideas?

The pains of .22lr

I've got a few put up for the kids and their habit. What really sticks in my crawl though, are the resellers. This $50-$60 dollar bullshit for a box of 500 that should be around $25 max is STILL ridiculous. Capitalism... Yeah, I know Dan, fuck off. Gouging on ammo is truly fucking people over. Instead of going to work like most of us, they are sitting out in front of the local sporting goods store until it opens and running in to buy their daily maximum and then have their spouse go in and buy the same maximum, then have their brother, sister, uncle or whatever the fuck go right back in behind them and buy it all out, only to turn right around on a local site to sell it at 50% or better markup. Shit ain't changed a bit. I do know this, if you time it right and do some research on who gets what delivered on what days, you can beat these gouging rats at their own game. I do. Funny thing though, they don't want to pay you what they are asking you to pay for it when they try and sell it to you at 50%+ markup. I get hit up to sell some of what I have sometimes. Not gonna happen ya shit dicks, we actually shoot ours instead of screwing people over in the form of a supplemented or main revenue stream. I'm a salesman who does millions in sales every year, you can't tell me shit about markups and "market value" that I don't already know. I just hate seeing folks raked over the coals just so they can take their grandchild or child shooting. It pisses me off.

NASA Confirms “Never Went to Moon” Van Allen Radiation Belts

NASA Engineer, Kelly Smith, works for Navitagion and Guidance for Orion Mission. ORION will NOT have Astronauts on board since IT WOULD be life-risking journey. The trip thru VAN ALLEN BELTS would HAVE TOO MUCH RADIATION and humans COULD NOT LIVE THROUGH THAT!
- He states “We must SOLVE these callenges before we send people through this region of spece!” (Van Allen Belt Radiation and communication failures from this radiation & Communications Interference…).
- But we were supposed to have DONE that already in 1969 when the first men, US Astronauts, landed on the Moon! Didn’t they land on the Moon? From what this NASA Engineer states, they apparently DID NOT!
