Frank E. Petersen Jr., first black Marine aviator, dies

Frank E. Petersen III said his father died Tuesday at his home in Stevensville, on Maryland's Kent Island, of complications from lung cancer. He was 83.

The New York Times reported that Petersen enlisted in the Navy in 1950, two years after President Truman desegregated the armed forces.

The next year, Petersen entered the Naval Aviation Cadet Program, according to The Washington Post.

According to a news release on the Marine Corps website, Petersen was commissioned in the corps in 1952. The Marines say Petersen served in the Korean War in 1953 and Vietnam in 1968. He received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered when he ejected over the demilitarized zone in Vietnam, The Post reported.

During his career, Petersen flew more than 350 combat missions and more than 4,000 hours.

Didn't have time to fool with it

I saw this guy on my way in to the salt mines this morning. With all of the clear cutting going on to build new houses around my neighborhood, these suburban deer are being run out of their habitats. He apparently got walloped pretty good. If I had been in my truck, this dude would have gotten loaded up and hauled to The Backyard, and I may have had to request a 1/2 day from one of the elitist vampire banker squid investor's time keeping enforcers. Man, what a nice buck...

Did I mention Dove season starts Sept. 18, whitetail bow season starts Oct. 7, duck season starts Oct. 31, Goose season starts Nov. 7, and whitetail rifle season starts Nov. 7?

Pretty much how I be feeling going into fall every year...

Totalitarian Collectivism : We're led to believe everybody opposes it and disagrees with political correctness, but yet everybody's scared to death of it. So who is it?

All out Warfare on Political Correctness

The bastion of Totalitarian Collectivism is based upon a culture of political correctness. Before authoritarians impose their rigid formulas for shaping and defining a false reality, the ground needs to be prepared for molding public opinion. The details and narrative of mind control works best when people have already adopted an urbanity of collective singularity. The nature of “TC” is the next level beyond political correctness.

Peer pressure may be expected during school adolescence but part of growing up requires a level of maturity to distinguish between facts, moral conduct and social values arrived at through sound and rigorous intellectual scrutiny. The primary source of mental malady comes out of media. As the media covers their daily inventions from papier-mâché substance from toilet paper sagas the public sinks deeper into the fog of war. The conflict that pervades the minds of the remaining rational thinkers becomes a struggle for survival.

Analyzing the merits of the dished out information from the media barons, is an experience like being put on the “Strappado Wrack” of political torture. While these media outlets share the spotlight that places the focus on the intended outcome, the strings of propaganda are being pulled by government intervention in the reporting process.

'Ridiculous': FBI warns of next big terror attack, Leaked document blames Fox, WND, Pam Geller for fueling militias

Just three weeks after ISIS attacked a Muhammad cartoonist event in Garland, Texas, the FBI began circulating an intelligence bulletin that alerts state, federal and local law enforcement about the likelihood of attacks against Muslims by “militia extremists.”

The bulletin, marked “sensitive” and not for distribution without FBI authorization, cites evidence gathered since 2013 that American militia groups are planning attacks on mosques, Islamic centers and possibly individual Muslims.

The document is dated May 28, 2015, and was leaked to Public Intelligence, an online information site committed to exposing government secrets and data. Public Intelligence posted the document on its site Aug. 18.

Named in the bulletin as news sites that provide information that supposedly fuels the militia groups were WND.com, Fox News, the Blaze, Western Journalism Center, Patriot Newswire and Pamela Geller’s blog, AtlasShrugs.com.

CAIR has said in the past that they blame Conservative media for the rise in "Islamaphobia"... I'm kind of leaning toward it being dead Americans...

Islam is a supremacist, totalitarian ideology. Under sharia law, inherent to Islamic ideology, not only is there no freedom of speech or freedom conscience, but blasphemy and apostasy are capital crimes. Islamic ideology and sharia law prescribe a theocracy in which unelected religious leaders can dictate to elected leaders (when there is an elected leader as opposed to the very common Islamic state monarchy). There is no equality under the law for people because all women and non-Muslims have fewer lesser legal rights than Muslim men. Yeah, sounds like the kind of society we would all love to live in doesn't it?

Sept. 11, 2001 – Nineteen al-Qaida terrorists hijacked four American passenger planes in a coordinated attack on U.S. soil. Nearly 200 Americans were murdered by the terrorists who hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 and flew it into the Pentagon, collapsing its western side. Meanwhile, two other planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were flown into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Both 110-story towers collapsed, killing 2,752 people. A fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, was flown by terrorists diverting the flight to Washington, D.C. However, passengers fought the hijackers, and the plane crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, killing 40 passengers.

He wanted them dead.” Larry also shot his 13-year-old nephew in the face, but the boy survived. The guard was wounded in the attack. Islamic radicals have since called for Geller’s head, and vow to kill anyone who “blasphemes” Muhammad.

July 16, 2015 – Four U.S. Marines have been shot dead in an attack, reportedly by a lone Islamic gunman, on U.S. Navy facilities in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke said five people died in all, including the gunman. Two law enforcement sources told CBS News that the shooting suspect was identified as Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, 24. Abdulazeez was born in Kuwait and emigrated to the U.S. where he reportedly became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

The FBI is investigating two crime scenes, a Navy recruiting center at a strip mall where the first shots were fired, and a Navy reserve center about 7 miles away. More than 100 rounds were reportedly fired in a shootout with police at the recruitment center parking lot. The shooter then drove to the Navy reserve center and started shooting Marines, four of whom were killed. The Marines would not have been armed at a reserve Navy installation or at a recruitment center, both of which were described as “soft targets.”

The four Marines who were fatally shot reportedly were attacked at the Navy Reserve Center on Amnicola Highway. A police officer at the first location was injured and was being treated at a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the ankle. “We are conducting this as an act of domestic terrorism,” said Bill Killian, U.S. Attorney for Tennessee at a 3 p.m. press conference. He came back to the podium 15 minutes later and backtracked, telling reporters “I would encourage you not to get caught up in labels…whether it was an act of terrorism or a crime.”

Funny, I cannot find an insane factual amount of references to Baptists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, Catholics, Methodists, 7th Day Adventists, Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, EVER doing heinous shit like what I listed above. But yeah, it's the militia members that are going to be the next big terror attack? What the fuck are they smoking in the FBI? Sounds like to me they've been smoking the hooka with the local tribal leaders of Dearborn Michigan. Now, you tell me who has been Hijacked by Islam sympathizers... Go ahead, I'll wait.

And for any of you Muslim hardliners reading this shit and get to feeling froggy, jump motherfuckers... I'm not hard to find. You have no idea the fight you are in for. There will be no ROE's here to hide behind.

Destroy and repurpose

I got bored and went to work on our old washer with the cut off wheel and cordless dremel last night. It was hot, miserable, and humid down here in the gumbo mud. Just the way I like it because everyone leaves me alone cept' for my hounds and the SHLBGS brings me a cold sip every now and then of her sweet tea. It never hurts to get outside and open up the pores a bit. I love to be in my barn and I'd sleep out there if I had a bed in it.

I now clearly understand what makes these things so damn heavy. It ain't the drum folks. It's the concrete blocks, motor, and casing injected with concrete that goes around the drum to keep it weighted and from beating itself to death as it spins. I'd say I unbolted at least 70 lbs out from around the drum to bust her loose. The motor is going to go to good use too. I have plans on making it a stationary table router with the help of my welder/machinist bro who favors drinking my wine, a lot. Good folks to know them machinist cats they be. A quick disconnect or set screw bit holder can be easily machined and attached to the shaft says he, and the mounts on the motor will allow me to anchor it pretty good to a solid table for use. It's not rocket science he says. The door is going on the chirrens playhouse as a porthole, starboard side.

SHLBGS comes out to bring me a sip and see just what exactly her live in gorilla has been banging and clanging on since he disappeared earlier to the comforts of The Backyard... Still not sure what I did to win that golden heart, but whatever it was, it worked.

And of course MD, my super sweet micro mini Pit Bull Bitch, decided to come see what her pop was up to as well. She's damn near blind from being fed by rat poison on purpose by the piece of shit who owned her previously and dumped her on the side of the road to die while pregnant. She's come a long way since we rescued and took her in. To see her outside after dark means she was really really interested in what I was up to. We don't skip chest and arm day around these parts... Hold me closer tiny pit bull, count the headlights on the highway, lay me down in sheets of linen, you had a busy day today...

It came out okay I guess. I even saved the belt pulley and slipped it back over the drum shaft reversed to give it a little base to sit on. It lights up like a disco ball all around it. It's stainless steel so I'm not real sure how it's going to end up after a good and hot red oak fire burning in it, but it didn't cost me anything to make but a little sweat equity either. Here's to getting your hands dirty and creating something useful... Y'all have a good one.

Life happenings and thoughts

Your career path often has big decisions that affect your life in big ways. Today, I was greeted via phone call by a solid group of folks I know personally outside of work about the possibility of me working for them. I get calls from recruiters and head hunters all of the time. They always want to feel me out and see where I'm at about possible opportunities, blah blah blah. You know the drill. Those recruiters are just chasing leads for their recruiting company so they can justify their position and get paid for tying you together with an employer looking to hire. They honestly don't care about your career welfare in my opinion and sometimes will just throw you in the hat for a job just because you were the first name that popped up on Linked In with similar attributes and skills for that job.

This time it's different I think. I've been waiting on this call for years. The current environment I'm in has gone from personal friendly relationships with the higher echelon brass who knew you by first name and looked out for you, to "you better toe the line and file your TPS reports Peter" corporate led vampire squid banker investor board of directors who don't care about anything except their bottom line, convincing employees that this new pay plan makes it more "fair" to the rest of the company so they can in reality cover their gambling mistakes and bad investment decisions on the cool, and putting a microscope on every move you make to generate money for them. It's incredibly frustrating and sometimes you desperately want to say "get the hell out of my way with that bullshit and let me make you some money!"... They for sure don't know me by my name. A mans name is all he takes with him when he leaves to go to work somewhere else. Your reputation is everything, that's for sure.

I understand that investors want positive return on their investments. That's how it works or you don't invest much longer because you're broke. I get it, I really do, but the amount bullshit that has been added recently to our daily operations in order for us to do our jobs is unreal and it feels like it's no longer worthy of my sanity to continue with it. The days of people feeding off other people's energy level and being motivated by that are slim to none in my industry. Sure I've got an awesome connection with the guys I work with and we crack jokes together like the day is long, but that's about the extent of the positive in our lives here daily and we suffer together whether we like it or not. The reports on reports that report on other reports to report to the reporting department for calculating unrealistic figures to the board is tiring. Everything they hand down is based on projected numbers. It's been this way for the last two years and it's never enough nor will it ever be enough. The corporatocracy has soaked very deep into what we used to call the "good ole boy" network. It used to be that old style of doing business when you had an employee who snapped necks in order to cash checks, and he would be recognized and rewarded for it. Not anymore. They don't care what you did for them today, only what are you going to do for them tomorrow. This ever increasing feeling of being dwindled down into an obedient worker drone robot with no emotion and outside thinking is killing me slowly and sucking the life force from my body. There is just so much a man can take before he's had enough. We all have our limits.

This new opportunity has the chance to upgrade my compensation, raise my general satisfaction and daily happiness of the job, lower my stress level, and breathe a little fresh air into a stagnant mind that is always craving more to learn and execute as employable skills. It has the power to help me get back to those more satisfying personal business relationships of having a beer and a handshake with your customer and add the comfort of not having a 600 page company employee handbook of rules and regulations that are decided by people you'll never meet in your life and who are too distant from what you do to even care. I've never fit in well with that type of environment and most likely never will. I don't kiss ass to get ahead. You shouldn't have to if you've got a backbone and the pride to do the job a man asks you to do. A man's work ethic and reputation should be all he needs to keep climbing up toward his ambitions and goals in life. Your performance speaks for itself to people who are paying attention.

My leadership philosophy is very simple. When you lead people, you lead from the front and motivate your people to WANT to perform at their highest abilities for YOU. Sometimes, it takes a little more effort. This means getting to know your workers, what they like and don't like, their spouses names, kids names, birthdays... You know, acting like you actually care about them. It makes a world of difference. Not once did I ever have to yell at my employees to get them to work. When you show a man the respect he deserves for doing what he's supposed to do as he does it well for you, you won't ever have to yell. They know you are counting on them and that you appreciate their efforts. Talk is cheap, and action speaks volumes. When you have that incentive instilled in a man to go his hardest for you because he respects you and your position, you've won. I used to tell my guys "Look, nothing has changed Gents. We know what we have to do this week. You guys can grab another gear and we can get our objectives accomplished a little early and go play for a couple of hours at the end of the week, or we can stay late and most likely meet back up here at 7 am on Saturday to finish. What do you think they chose? I was never the cat that made ridiculous requests for them work hard while I kicked back off to the side and took all of the credit for their hard work. I cannot tell you how many times we had it all buttoned up by 1pm on Fridays, drank beer until quitting time, and had meat on the smoker as we sat around and enjoyed each others company as a functioning and efficient team. That style of leadership got me into the position I'm in now. Unfortunately, there's no room for growth. So, at the moment I'm capped on where I can go here. I don't like being limited on my ambitions. I want to hit the ceiling and punch right through that bitch to blast into outer space. Yes, I'm that aggressive when it comes to my means of getting by and providing a certain level of comfort to the family unit.

Nothing is set in stone just yet with the new opportunity. It was only a phone call, so I cannot get too crazy with it yet. But, I seriously have a good feeling about this one. The man kept his promise to me from two years ago that I'd be his first pick once things got up and running to where they could bring another person on board. A man that keeps his word is an important connection to keep. We shall see how it goes.

You all have a great Friday and even better weekend.

The SHLBGS and I use their products. I'll vouch for the quality and results. I was skeptical at first about being a little too "frou-frou" because I'm a little rough around the edges. You will see an improvement in your skin quality as compared to using store bought, mass produced soaps, and other skin care products full of man made chemicals. She has hand crafted everything she offers, so a lot of time and heart has gone into her business.

They are local, local, local. Go see.

Everything they make is edible, non-toxic, and hand crafted from organic materials and her own home grown herbs and ingredients.

I appreciate it.

Photos: 20 Awesome Gun Rooms You Should Be Jealous Of

What does your gun room look like? Let’s face it, a lot of us don’t have enough firearms to warrant giving them their own room—not to mention giving up valuable house space! However, that doesn’t mean we can’t plan for when that day comes. Here are 20 innovative, luxurious, or just practical gun rooms that you can take notes from. Some look comfy enough to relax in while you drink a glass of single malt scotch whisky—if you have one of these rooms, you can probably afford some high-end Macallan—while others are little more than cabinets or corners stuffed full of guns.

A reader sends

You may remember my Swine IED recipe I posted up here last year... A friend of the blog who goes by North Texan sent pics of his take on it. He did a fine job. You make me proud NT. Look at that meaty goodness... Thanks man.

North Texan :

I used 2 lb of bacon. Pepper jack cheese, flank steak pounded out and pork boudin sausage. Smoked till internal of 200 degrees. Cut and drizzle with steins. Really good. I think next time I'll do chicken, more cheese (sharp cheddar) and add a few jalapeños. May omit the boudin. It was good but a huge pain to keep in the thing during roll up. My daughter took one bite and as she chewed just stared at me and said wow this is good. Served with a salad and black eye peas. Good stuff thanks for sharing. Feel free to post this if you want to.
