Pickin' with visitors

My little barefoot gardening Squaw got her fix in this afternoon. I think I have more fun watching her overhand knife pruning skills than anything else. She is loving that apron too. She had all kinds of stuff tucked into that mobile hoarding device.

We brought in some really nice black beauty squash and yellow crooknecks for supper this week. I'm thinking sliced and marinated with a little Slap ya Mama and Italian dressing, then grilled right in between some medium Ribeyes would do it for me.

We also had a visitor who hung out a bit and got to know us. This is a Blue Dasher female. She was very friendly and let me get incredibly close to her. I think it's mating season. Don't laugh, but their scientific name is Pachydiplax longipennis. Say that a few times real fast eh?

Almost alien isn't she?

We are surrounded in lush and beautiful shades of green. I couldn't be happier with how it's coming along this year. I'm ready for the tomatoes to turn out so I can get down on that chips and salsa.

I've got to have steak at least once or twice a month. It's "a growing up raising cattle and having a freezer full of beef" kind of thing... May all of your meat eating dreams come true as you burn the flesh of the beast this weekend brother.
