Prunus Persica


I missed my trimming time this year which resulted in smaller peaches by the boatload. With peach trees, is it important to maintain your spring pruning schedule every year, in order to get the tree to produce the larger size of peaches that people normally go for. Overcrowding will cause small fruit every time. It's all good though. Next year I'll get it right. It turned out some good looking fruit, just a bit small...




I think these things would be better suited for sling shot ammo than eating!

All jokes aside, we are planning to can a mess of peach preserves to go in the pantry. Bring on the buttered toast and biscuits!

Here's a fun fact: Prunus persica refers to Persia (present Iran), from where it came to Europe. However, genetic studies suggest that peaches originated in China...
